2007 season recap
With
a brand new title sponsor, a bolstered and powerful roster, and an
ambitious race schedule, 2007 marked the beginning of a new era for the
Legal Sea Foods Pro-Am Cycling team. A bigger budget and a
greater range of talent meant that we would be more competitive in any
race we entered. For eight months our 10-man squad raced nearly
every weekend, through the pounding rain and bitter cold of a New
England April to the blistering bake of July asphalt. The team
attended more than 40 official races and competed in dozens of
uncounted training criteriums, hill climbs, and time trials. And
in order to compete at the level in which we did, the team collectively
trained more than 8,000 hours, a lot of time spent in the saddle.
The
team tasted success with more than 25 top-20 finishes, nearly every
team member contributing to the count. Season highlights include
Ryan Fleming’s stellar breakaway abilities as seen in multiple top-5
criterium finishes, Alain Ferry’s 3rd place at the Norwell Circuit
Race, and Ryan and Peter’s 6th and 8th place at the indefatigable Tour
of the Hilltowns.
The team would
like to thank all of its sponsors for their support throughout the
year. Without their help, none of our success would be
possible. A special thank you to Legal Sea Foods whose amazing
support made the team possible. Thank you to MetLife and
unlose.it, the team’s two presenting sponsors. The team thanks
VeloEuropa imports for its stellar Cyfac racing bicycles. Thank
you to Glaceau, makers of Vitaminwater. And thank you to Landry’s
Bicycles and S&W Sports, two of the best bicycle shops in the
country.
A stronger and more ambitious team will
return for 2008 with key riders signed in order to strengthen our
already talent-laden team. With a predicted larger budget we also
anticipate racing a countrywide schedule with several National Racing
Calendar events in the mix. We are also set to direct the Turtle
Pond Circuit Race for the fourth year with the possibility of an even
bigger criterium to happen in Boston. We hope to continue to
improve our relationships with sponsors with better feedback and
representation. A new weekly Enewsletter will help keep our
supporters as up-to-date as possible.
2007 was a
great year and a very good starting point. Next season, however,
is shaping up to be the best yet. We hope you’ll continue to tune
in here for the latest news and we look forward to your support in 2008.
